Hi, I'm Joe e. Clayton Jr. No, I'm not a self proclaimed Marketing Guru. But I am a streetwise Internet marketer, former NASA/Kennedy Space Center engineer, and creator of over 250 software programs to date.

And I HATE HTML. I hate creating web pages. I have to snort everytime someone claims they have a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor for HTML. Till now, to create an eBook, you had to use...

Software that would take HTML pages you created, and 'compile' (assemble) them into 'executable' file that would display them to the reader. They have grown in complexity and power, as has HTML.

Yet despite those advances, to create a Professional ebook we STILL require a working knowledge of HTML, PLUS, in addition to the compiler, an expensive WYSIWYG 'HTML' (web page) editor - and a frustratingly steep learning curve. To make things worse, the ebooks had become SO dependant on the operating system and it's built-in web browser, that a simple security patch to windows (SP2) made MILLIONS of eBooks stop functioning!

But that was not the only problem. ebooks were...boring (or, at least, not exciting), and could be tiring to read. There are many end users who just can not be bothered to load up a program, then scroll or Click a mouse REPEATEDLY on their monitor to get line after line, and page after page, of text to scroll by as they read it. It's unnatural, it tires our eyes -especially those of us who are getting on a bit -and we humans are just not used to it.

The other alternative to eBooks, is ...

Takes up huge amounts of digital space. To create audio and embed it into ebook format - IF the 'compiler' can even do it (!) - takes a LOT of skill, knowledge, equipment to buy, and usually even more software to use to 'work' with the audio. Not a Newbie job to say the least!

So the commonest and easiest way is to create an audio file, plus an additional eBook containing the transcribed text of a Course, Interview or Seminar. This allows us to listen to the author and read his/her written word simultaneously. Studies have shown that substantially higher information retention rates are achieved when both text and sound are combined.

Not only that - it's easier and more fun to either read, or listen, or do both!

Wonderful concept. BIG Problem.

We are dealing with human nature here. And that means logic sometimes does NOT apply! Because the problem then of course, is that the reader has to load and open up an ebook, then load and open an audio player, then load the audio file or CD. Then activate the audio and use their trusty mouse to scroll down the screen to keep the text perfectly synchronized with the sound.

Unfortunately this requires a fair amount of concentration and eventually becomes tiring. So we often choose to just listen, or print out the text and read it later - maybe :-)

HEY! WHY is TEXT, with AUDIO, BETTER than Video? You can't Print video. Audio will play where video won't. With Video, you have to take notes...

Video is, well, Video. You can't read it, or print it, but it can be a powerful way to deliver a message. BUT, until recently, the file sizes were ULTRA HUGE and a myriad of formats and specifications and methods of display made Video an even more complex medium for publishing. Also, getting an eBook that could handle video was nearly impossible: you do DVD, or nothing at all.

There are times when nothing but some video will do the job properly.
